Mule Deer Hunting

New Mexico Unit 56 & 57

mule deer hunting - Tomahawk Outfitters Tomahawk Outfitters offers mule deer hunting in Northeastern New Mexico. These hunts are conducted during the end of the month of October and the beginning of November. We have two 5-day hunt periods that are set by the New Mexico Game & Fish Department.

This ranch is approximately 10,000 acres and the elevation is 9,000 feet. The ranch consists of pinions, juniper, lots of oak brush, ponderosa pines and meadows. The ranch is a mixture of canyons, rimrock and mesas.

We have hunted and managed this ranch for approximately 18 years. You can tell by the pictures in the Photo Gallery the quality of deer that we are taking. We have a limited time span to hunt deer and a limited number of permits, so book early!

These are full-service hunts which includes meals, lodging, 2×1 guide service and game care. If any hunter would like to upgrade to a 1×1 there will be an additional cost of $1,000.

Drop by our Mule Deer Trophies page to see the many fine animals take by our past customers.

Combination Hunts

mule deer hunting - Tomahawk OutfittersIf a hunter would like to hunt a combination mule deer/elk hunt, we do these in the latter part of October and early November. The cost of this combination hunt would be $10,000, plus mule deer and elk hunting licenses and 7.7708% sales tax.

If a hunter would like to hunt a mule deer/black bear combination there is a $500 booking fee plus cost of license and tax. If a hunter harvests a black bear during his mule deer hunt there is a $2,500 kill fee paid the day of the kill. There is no draw for deer tags on private land in New Mexico. Deer licenses can be purchased over the counter.

All hunters wishing to purchase any big game or turkey license must first purchase an annual Game-hunting License.  This is a new mandatory regulation issued by the New Mexico Game & Fish Department beginning for the 2023 hunting season.
